Team chat and client messages
Channels and direct messages for the firm, a secure line to each client, and WealthY in the conversation. Every message is archived.
Team chat lives inside Inbox: the pill at the top of the card switches from Inbox to Messages. A firm owner also has it as its own page. Same tables, same archive, one place to look.
What is in the list
- Channels: firm-wide rooms. Every firm starts with #general, #ops and #compliance. New channel adds another: lower case letters, numbers and hyphens, one name per firm.
- Direct messages: between two colleagues, and they stay between the two of you.
- Client conversations: the secure line between an advisor and a client who writes from the portal.
Unread counts sit beside each conversation, and a dot shows who has been active in the last few minutes. A conversation someone starts with you appears without a reload.
Writing
- Enter sends, Shift+Enter starts a new line.
- @ mentions a colleague or a client, # links a channel. A mention notifies the person.
- + attaches an email from your inbox, a task or a meeting. Each one shows as a card the others can open.
- @WealthY asks the assistant in the conversation. Mention a client and the answer is about that client.
- Click a client mentioned in a message for a small card: assets, year-to-date return, risk, last contact and open tasks, with Open profile.
Older messages load as you scroll up. Search messages finds words across the conversations you are already in, and nothing else.
Cover a day
My day is covered posts every meeting you have on a chosen day to a channel as a claim card. A colleague presses I'll take it and becomes the meeting's advisor; you are told who took it. A firm owner or admin support can do the same for an advisor who is out.
Client conversations
- A client writes from Messages in their portal. It is one conversation with their advisor: text, and one file per message, on both sides. A file shared there is also in the client's documents.
- Every message is archived for compliance. Client tags, staff cards and WealthY are off in a client conversation, so nothing internal can reach the client.
- When something is waiting, the other side gets an email that says only that there is a new secure message, with a button to sign in. Never the message text and never the client's name. A burst of messages sends one email, after a few quiet minutes.
- A client can turn these emails off in their portal settings.
- Client messaging can be turned off for a firm. A client then sees that messaging is not available, and how to reach their advisor instead.
Who is in it
Everyone on the firm's staff: firm owner, admin support, advisors. Clients only ever see their own conversation with their advisor.
